Larry's Travel Reports and Photos

St. Peters
After recent trips Nancy and I have taken, I have started to write up our travels and provide some information and photos to help others who might want to visit the same locations. This is provided here in basic PDF format for your reading and viewing pleasure. While there is no charge, we accept no responsibility for accuracy since things change and I do not include every little thing. If the information, maps and photos help you in planning your travels, we have accomplished what we set out to do. Just click on the titles to download the PDF files.

Rome This trip dates from October of 2011 and includes much of the traditional, historic parts of Rome as well as Vatican City, the Vatican Museums and an audience with the Pope.

Athens We were here in November of 2012. This covers much of the central and historic part of Athens including the New Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis itself, the Parthenon, the Agora area, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Temple of Zeus. It also includes a short Greek island tour.

Istanbul This report covers many of the major tourist attractions in Istanbul including Beyazit Square, the Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophie, Topkapi Palace, the Basilica Cistern, and Dolmabahce Palace. There is also a brief mention of Adana, Turkey.

Lourdes Our most recent trip to Europe in late 2017 gave us a chance to make a pilgrimage to Lourdes. Nancy and I were happy we did because it turned out to be more of a religious experience than Rome and the Vatican. This includes photos of the Grotto and the adjacent Sanctuary as well as some information on Lourdes and travel in Europe.

Our Lady of Good Help - Wisconsin Located not far from Green Bay, Wisconsin is the only approved Marian apparition site in the United States. It has survived a raging forest fire and is the site of several miracles. After Larry and Nancy visited the shrine, Larry wrote this article that appeared in Bus Tours Magazine in 2015. It offers a brief history of the shrine and some photos.
