history of the Church of St. Mary in Polo, Illinois. This starts with early
exploration and Catholicism in Illinois, establishment of the parish in
1854, and the initial church in 1856 which was the first church in Polo
and appears to be the first Catholic Church in Ogle County. The history
continues with the building of the present church at the turn of the century,
the construction of the rectory a few years later, and more recent developments.
Included is a list of priests who have served the parish and photos of
