August was a very good month for us. Patricia Marie began to do some serious walking and talking. August 25, 2002 also marked her first birthday. Since it was a Sunday, we were able to have a nice party and invited the family and friends. Here are some photos taken in August, most of which were taken at Tricia's birthday.
We would like to thank all those who sent cards and gifts including Grandma Plachno, Ron & Valerie Plachno, Bob & Elena Plachno, and the Pascua family. Godmothers Suzie Corbitt and Linda Faivre were out of town but graciously sent greetings and gifts. Mike and Dorothy from our office and Vicky Pantuso from Polo also sent gifts which were much appreciated.
Please take time to send e-mail to the girls. Both Menchu and Cookie still have their old e-mail addresses. You can also send e-mail to Nancy at the address shown at the bottom of this page. She loves to get e-mail. Please send her a note and tell her that you saw these photos.

| Here is one of several photos taken a few weeks prior to Tricia's birthday so that we had current photos to use on a birthday invitation card. This little wagon pull toy was one of Tricia's favorite toys at that time and it helped her learn to walk. The photo was taken on the sidewalk in front of our house. You can see several of Nancy's colorful flowers which bloomed most of the summer. | ![]() |
| Tricia's birthday was held on Sunday, August 25 at our house. This photo shows Panjee, Nancy, Tricia and myself standing in the kitchen in front of the big banner Nancy got for Tricia's birthday. As you can see, Nancy went through a great deal of trouble and work to decorate the house and get all of the balloons, streamers and other decorations. | ![]() |
| Here are Nancy and Tricia as we were singing Happy Birthday. Tricia is too young to blow out the candles but Nancy and Panjee were willing to help. Tricia's birthday cake had figures of Pooh Bear and friends. Tricia seems to like Pooh Bear. | ![]() |
| Guests at Tricia's birthday party included Ate Panjee, big sister Sarah,
Tita Menchu, Tita Cookie, Tito Richard, Joe, Kathy and Devon, as well as
Chris and Brooke. Godparents Suzie Corbitt and Linda Faivre were out of
town and could not attend but sent gifts. Here are Brooke, Kathy, Cookie
and Tricia in our kitchen. Joe and Kathy live near Elgin, Illinois.
Sarah now has an apartment at Northern Illinois University in nearby DeKalb where she is attending college. In spite of working two jobs, Sarah has managed to keep a 4.0 scholastic average which is impressive. |

| Here is another photo of Tricia and her little wagon taken just prior to her birthday. Again, the location is adjacent to Nancy's flowers in front of the house. Tricia was just the right size for the wagon at this time. This little wagon came from Joe. | ![]() |
| This photo shows you how Tricia used the little wagon to learn how
to walk. It also helps that she likes to stand up in her play pen because
that taught her how to balance while standing. She did scare us one day
when she learned how to climb up and stand on the little wagon while in
her play pen. Sometimes, I think kids grow up too fast.
